STAND UP PADDLE YOGA

WHY DO SUP YOGA?

OFFERING PRIVATE POOL SUP LESSONS & GROUP SUP ON THE RIVER

A LITTLE ABOUT SUP YOGA

Stand up paddle boarding and yoga may at first seem like an odd pairing. But, there are many reasons why people enjoy doing yoga on the water. In addition to having fun with friends or experiencing some quiet solitude on the water, here are a few more benefits:

Never paddled before?

No problem! Whether you are taking a private lesson, or joining for a group class, we always reserve several minutes before we begin to instruct on the equipment and proper paddle and balancing techniques. Yogis are welcome to remain on their knees, bellies, and backs, the entire time and do not need to feel any pressure at all to stand up.

Is SUP Yoga open-level for beginners and what should I expect?

Yes! All classes are accessible to those new to the experience and seasoned yogis alike. In a typical group experience, you can expect that we will take a short paddle (5-7minutes) from our launch site to a secluded space, in a “no-wake” zone (to prevent waves from passing boaters) where we will then drop our anchors to begin our practice.

We also offer private and partner lessons in the privacy of our salt-water pool, a great place to build fundamentals and confidence.

What is the structure of class?

Once we have reached our practice destination, whether in the river or pool, we begin with pranayama breathwork on our back or sit bones, as we soak up the sun and float (securely) knowing that our anchor has us fully grounded. We then move on to small movement-based stretches and asanas to get our bearings, increase our mobility, and to start to build a bit of heat. After, there are options given for our vinyasa flows (vinyasa means to place in a special order, linking our breath to each movement) this can be done while on the knees or standing up, always yogis choice.
